Job brief

We are looking for a Lead Production Engineer to provide Construction Engineering support to the shop floor staff and act as an interface between the different departments and disciplines.


  • To provide Engineering support required for fabrication of offshore structures on the Clients’ fabrication yard.
  • To co-ordinate between the different Engineering disciplines, structural, piping, mechanical and I&C.
  • To co-ordinate requisition and issue of construction materials in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of site instructions to record changes and variations.
  • Recording and reporting of weekly fabrication progress.
  • Resolution of day to day Engineering problems encountered on site, if an onsite resolution cannot be agreed, raising of technical queries to agree a solution.
  • To monitor and co-ordinate subcontract works carried out either on or off site.
  • Train, supervise, and manage production line staff.
  • Increase speed and efficiency of process without compromise quality.
  • Follow and adhere to all state, Federal and Company enforced safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain Client and contractor relationships.


  • University Engineering Degree in a recognised Engineering discipline.
  • Membership of professional bodies such as NSE (Nigeria), COREN (Nigeria), ICE (UK) and ASCE (USA) is desirable but not necessary.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years post-graduate experience, preferably working in the oil and gas industry.
  • Must be used to working in a multi-discipline environment
  • Experience in working with general engineering codes and standards, with emphasis on oil and gas industry practices.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the design of onshore and offshore oil production facilities.
  • Have a sound understanding of offshore construction practices preferably in more than one discipline.
  • Sound understanding of HSES management systems.
  • Ability to manage interfaces both internally and externally with contractors and coordinate with other disciplines such as mechanical, electrical and process.
  • Good reporting skills with the ability to write well-structured and easily understood reports
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Project, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with CAD Software.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work and understand construction schedules.
  • Having good understanding of project management controls and procedures.
  • Ability to work under pressure against tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of consistency and accuracy.
